Final Rout & Slots

Routing is removal of the finished PCB from the manufacturing panel. Our standard router bit is 2.0mm, but occasionally designers need something different.

The smallest router bit we can use is 0.8mm, but is prone to breakages. This can also be used for PTH or NPTH slots or cutouts. Other sizes up to 2.5mm are available.

For boards that are going to be provided loose, we require a minimum of 5mm spacing between board edges. This allows 2 rout paths, plus a stabilising strip between boards. “Filling a panel” can be done by you or us, but keep in mind multiple designs to be merged attract extra setup charges.

Whether you construct your own routed panel or have us do it for you, 2.4mm or 2.0mm is preferred between boards. Solid tabs or perforated tabs for breakaway can be done per your own preference and requirements.

Slots/Long Holes

Slots or Long Holes are always routed, never peck drilled.  Minimum finished slot width is 0.6mm. PTH slots are routed immediately after drill and NPTH slots are done at final rout. PTH slots attract surcharges as does NPTH slots that cannot use the 2.0 or 2.4mm final router bit.
