Rout

Routing is removal of the finished PCB from the manufacturing panel. As a standard we use a 2.4mm bit, but occasionally designers need something different.

The smallest router bit we can use is 0.8mm, but is prone to breakages being so thin. This can be used for plated or non-plated through slots or cutouts. Other sizes up to the 2.4mm standard are available, while routing larger than 2.4mm is done in multiple passes

For boards that are going to be provided loose, we require a minimum of 6mm spacing between board edges. This allows 2 rout paths, plus a stabilising strip between boards. “Filling a panel” can be done by you or us, but keep in mind multiple designs to be merged attract extra setup charges.

Whether you construct your own routed panel or have us do it for you, 2.4mm or 2.0mm is preferred between boards. Solid tabs or perforated tabs for breakaway can be done per your own preference and requirements.

If your design is quite small, or an excessive amout of routing or multiple slot sizes are required, a surcharge will apply to both the once-off setup, and per panel to cover the machine time and labour.
